Our third year students were taken to an ongoing project site where concreting was happening to understand the RCC footing foundation and how members are tied together. Site study enhances students to understand the concept of execution of the work.
Learnings from the site visit are as follows:
1. Specification for column reinforcement, how it is tied and erected
2. Concept of site marking, Reinforcement details for Isolated, combined/raft foundation and UGT Sump.
3. Concept of bottom and top reinforcement at foundation level
4. Bending of bars for ties and stirrups
5. Basics of Batching, mixing, transporting and placing of concrete
