Senior Citizen Library is a one month design & execution project where the students from RVS Chennai,
Padmavathy School of Architecture and Auro University, Surat collaborated in creating a public space for the
senior citizens of Surat.
The Winter workshop is conducted by the school of design for the students. The nature of this workshop is an intense hands-on understanding of the heuristic learning that take places on the actual site, away from the setup of the conventional classroom, and is deeply rooted in the making and detailing of Architecture, that is fabricated by makers (participants )under the guided will materials, design, artisans and subject experts. This workshop is central to making and detailing different design components of a senior citizen’s library and community place, using liner (bamboo,metal),casting (concrete) and masonry (brick)materials .the site is situated in heart of village biotope, surat with an are of 2000 sq.ft. Taking a leap from conventional practice ,the brief of the workshop is rounded in the design and genesis of real-scale library,in the language of sustainable materials and building techniques ,through collaboration with experts and Artisans.

Vicky Achnani
He is an architect who graduated from CEPT. As a faculty at CEPT and other institutes, he conducts workshops on making, detailing through physical and fabrication. His keen interest lies in detailing.
Priyanka Thakur
She is an architect who graduated from IPS, Indore. She experiments with natural construction materials through architectural detailing, sensitivity of design is central to her projects across the cities.
